Yes, the sun definitely lightens my hair. Not in one day, it's a gradual process. Mostly the top gets lightened. The hair underneath it doesn't. The amount of lightening depends on the amount of sun. My eyebrows are always light blond.

Sun In was used in the 80's to speed up that process.
